Mission Honduras - Welcome
At the heart of Christ’s great commission, we are all called to “Go, make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19) Christ follows this command with a great promise: “and surely I will be with you always….” (Matthew 28:20)
We have partnered with a Catholic Priest (Fr. Donahue) who, over the years, has built OlanchoAid.org into an amazing vessel to serve the poor and needy. He started by building a special-needs school for Honduran children who suffer from mental retardation and autism. The ministry has since grown to include an elementary and high school for neighboring children. For without proper education, there is little hope for these kids to break the cycle of poverty. One of our main projects was to install a new roof on a school where learning is constantly interrupted each time it rains. In addition to installing the roof, repairing poor living conditions, adding a kitchen in a school so the kids have at least one solid meal a day, and providing basic supplies for daily living, our team also made crafts and other activities with the special-needs kids, who, for the most part, are "castaways" in such a poor country.
For those of you who cannot “go with us,” please consider “going through us”—
by the gift of your prayers and donations. Although we are all funding our own expenses for the trip ($1,400 each), we need to raise money to purchase the supplies that will be needed to help the kids, school, and teachers in the community. Any help will be greatly appreciated! CLICK HERE to make a donation or checks can be made out to “Holy Family Catholic Church,” with “Mission Honduras” in the memo line.
If you are interested in seeing pictures, click on the link below – and you will be able to see the impact of your prayers, donations and support.

May God’s abundant blessings pour over you, your family, and your many efforts to “make disciples of all” through your work, school, family, and community!

PAST EVENTS
Mission Honduras Breakfast Fundraiser
On January 21st, fellow parishioners of Holy Family, local business leaders and friends
joined together at Holy Family's new Parish Hall for a breakfast fundraiser to support
Mission Honduras. The event was a great success. Padre Richard Donahue (founder of
Olancho Aid) spoke about the needs of the people of Honduras. The everyday struggles
they encounter and the lacking of basic education and infrastructure. Padre was followed
by Carlos Najera (Executive Director of Olancho Aid, native Honduran). Carlos shared his
personal journey and the blessings that Padre's organization provides to the Honduran
people. In this video, you can view the morning's
presentations.
Medical Mission Provides Care For Over 1,800 People
In March of 2011, a medical team comprising of Holy Family parishioners as well as
medical staff from Correct Care Solutions travelled to Honduras. Their mission was to
provide medical care to remote villages in the Honduran State of Olancho. Over a one
week period, care was provided to over 1,800 Hondurans. The team travelled daily for
over an hour on rough roads to visit remote villages where locals have not had the
opportunity to visit with neither doctors nor dentists for extended periods of time. The
medical team provided treatment for a wide range of ailments, including but not limited
to malaria, parasites, heart problems and malnutrition. The team also encountered a
young man of eleven years old that is desperate need of heart surgery. Through the
generosity of CCS, we are working on providing this young man and his family the funds
and logistical support to make this happen. The team of twenty people from CCS and Holy
Family experienced a week of rough roads, hard work, less than suitable accommodations,
and given the challenges they faced, they were all excited and eager to plan a return
trip to further assist the people of Honduras.

Holy Family/Steve Hayes articles:
“When you go back to the U.S., you will take my heart with you." This was the last thing one of the Honduran children said to a member of the Holy Family Mission Honduras team.
